Gravel, Vol. 2: The Major Seven Reviewthe first volume of Gravel was a great read, but it might have set the bar too high for the next arc to follow. after all the imagination and planning that went into the first 7 or 8 issues, i was sure that the continuing story would be spectacular, given the phone call at the end of volume 1. most of volume 2 is spent on talking and the threat of things that might happen, whereas the first volume is more action packed.
it wasn't all bad, hence the 3 stars; still an enjoyable read, and after the first one i simply had to see what came next. if you feel the same need, dont overthink it, give this volume a shot (the 3rd volume gets a bit better than this one). but if you liked the first one for the action, this volume may be too slow for your tastes. decent, not a waste of money, but not as good as the first either; so, 3 stars. save this one for a rainy day.Gravel, Vol. 2: The Major Seven OverviewMagic... the kind of magic that can strip the skin from a screaming man's skull, or direct the path of a shrieking bullet through a maze of city streets. This is not just magic. This is Combat Magic. After carving a bloody path through his fellow members of the Minor Seven, the last thing William Gravel expected was to be welcomed with welcome arms into a much more prestigious ensemble, the Major Seven. But before Gravel can gain acceptance into their ranks, he must complete two tasks: reform the Minor Seven organization that he destroyed, and uncover a murderer within the Major Seven who killed one of their own. Before he's done, the seasoned Combat Magician will make it very clear to Britain's occult hierarchy that the price and penance of atonement will not only be his burden to endure.
