God Shock ReviewGod Shock is one of the most original, gripping, and often hysterically funny pieces of cyberpunk I've ever read. I became emotionally attached to the protagonists, and had to read the book again to try and quell that sense of loss when I'd finished the book.
The most prominent aspect of God Shock, though, is its rich texture of ideas. Rochfort has packed an impressive mass of speculative science into God Shock, and from the vantage point of my own R&D it's obvious Rochfort has invested plenty of time and effort into the authenticity of God Shock's technology.God Shock OverviewWake up man, you just slept through Armageddon, she said, roughly shaking the deadweight Saladin by the shoulders. On the file it all looked very convincing Death by incineration, but in fact the onus for Rutherfords death lay with a messianic madman whose cranium he had recently sawn into...An infomercenary, Athena gets paid to sift. She sits with the posture of a catatonic shaman as her lungs squeeze shallow breaths. Outside of her self induced coma the world buzzes with static. Psycho and techno babble is ranting out a billion bits per second, oozing and spitting out of the pores of society. Screens flicker through evangelic mutterings. AI spiders crawl the web, sifting through thick overgrowth of shit info, scanning for hard data. A loud hiss of an alarm brings her coughing out into consciousness...
