Slabscape: Reset ReviewSlabscape: Reset had me hooked from start to finish. It explores life aboard an interstellar spaceship and the peculiaralities that occur there. The characters are believable and incredibly well thought out. Dielle's struggle with coming to terms with a new world is the central theme of the book and plays out in a hitchhiker's style comedic fashion. Baker adds humour and whimsy to all aspects of the story and uses it to bring his unbelievably well thought out world to life. And I mean well thought out! The attention to detail in creating the parts of "Slab" (the interstellar spaceship) and the society that lives within it is quite astounding and demonstrates the author's love for his world. He imagines the future of entertainment and the reality TV genre and the futuristic system of government and even how people shower and purchase food.
The second main story thread follows Louis Drago who is a holographic version of a business mogul from back on Earth. He has a traditional cut-throat attitude towards people and business and he makes a wonderful addition to the story as you can see how society has changed, being protected by a the benevolent AI overlord that is Sis.
Slabscape brings all the whimsical comedy of hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy in a refreshing and intriuging setting that is sure to captivate your imagination. I for one am eagerly anticipating the sequel.Slabscape: Reset OverviewTake the most sophisticated A.I. designed mind that has ever existed, encase it in over fifty million cubic kilometres of diamond nano-rods and send it off on a twenty-thousand-year odyssey towards the centre of the galaxy. Then screw it all up by allowing thirty-two million humans to go along for the ride...

The Religion War ReviewThe Religion War is a direct follow up to God's Debris. God's Debris is almost entirely a thought experiment with the setting and characters as a backdrop, while The Religion War takes it a step forward by creating a future world in which the Muslim and Christian nations are on the brink of war.
Geared towards "those with short attention spans," the lack of transitions and expositions may be unsettling and almost jarring to some. Scott Adams is definitely "thinking like an engineer" with minimal literary devices in place to lay the groundwork for the reasoning and message the book is based on.
The book offers very few new ideas philosophically, but presents them in a manner that are thought-provoking and digestible to the open-minded. Religion cannot hold up to any sort of logicial rigour, and Adams suggests to have faith its literal tenets is "stupid." Yes, he actually uses the word "stupid." Atheists and agnostics will enjoy the manner in which some of the big questions are tackled logistically, but believers may be turned off and even offended. Regardless, the approach to the "big questions" in the eyes of the main character is definitely worth reading about and considering.
The fundamental problem, besides the plot holes, is that Adams paints a world in which people and opinions can be changed through reasoning, and that smart people are "right." Looking at all the hatred that exists in the world today, this is definitely a big stretch. Smart people may be right, but convincing less educated people of such is nearly impossible.
At many times it seems even implausible that such unreasonable characters would listen to reason, but the reader has to keep in mind the conversations are a device to facilitate the ideas Adams is trying to convey.
This book is definitely worth the read and the flaws are somewhat easy to gloss over if you look for the underlying message. The Religion War OverviewWith publication of The Religion War, millions of long-time fans of Scott Adams's Dilbert cartoons and business best sellers will have to admit that the literary world is a better place with Adams on the loose spreading new ideas and philosophical conundrums. Unlike God's Debris, principally a dialogue between its two main characters, The Religion War is set several decades in the future when the smartest man in the world steps between international leaders to see if he can prevent a catastrophic confrontation between Christianity and Islam that would destroy most of civilization. The parallels between where we are today and where we could be in the near future are clear.Adams says The Religion War targets "bright readers with short attention spans-everyone from lazy students to busy book clubs." The book may be a three-hour read, but it's packed with concepts that will be discussed long after the last page is turned, including a list of "Questions to Ponder in the Shower" that will underline the story's purpose of highlighting the most important-yet most ignored-questions in the world.

The War of the Dwarves ReviewTungdil Bolofar the dwarf has become a legend amidst the various species like the Dwarves, Elves and humans after he led their side to victory over the Nod'onn. Everyone knows defeat would mean genocide with the total destruction of Girdlegard.
The hero hopes to rest somewhat on his laurels but remain vigilant. Tungdil is aware of how precarious the triumph is as the Alfs and the Bognilim Black Water immortal Orcs still plot to drive the Dwarves and humans out of their position of power. He also hears whispers that the demi-god Avatars are preparing to invade from the Outerlands to ethnically cleanse what they believe is evil. However, it is what he does not know yet is that the biggest threat of all are the blood thirsty lethal Thirdlings Dwarves ho are planning a violent coup d'etat.
The follow up to The Dwarves is a super fantasy that expands the Heitz mythology for instance with the addition of the Freeling Dwarves and the new malevolence. The story line moves at a terrific pace on sea, land and underground as the hero of the previous war is back dealing with another nasty menace and treachery from within. The War of the Dwarves is a strong saga as the key cast including the bad dudes seem genuine while the political and social structure of the species enhance the incredibly action packed fantasy.
Harriet Klausner
The War of the Dwarves OverviewThe dwarves have gone to battle and they have been victorious. But outside the realm, dark forces are at work.. .A secret army of Orcs, made immortal by the hidden powers of the Black Water, now marches towards Girdlegard, set to unleash its fury upon the kingdom. Sooner than they realize, Tungdil and his comrades will need to summon all their courage to do battle against this bloodthirsty horde. The Orcs are not the only threat. An unspeakable new power is growing and threatens the very existence of the dwarves. But both enemies have forgotten one very important truth: a dwarf is never more dangerous than when total obliteration seems inevitable . . .

Awesome book, If you're looking for a cheap good read, this is definitely something you should check out!Eleages: Empire's Fall OverviewThe Eleage race was once powerful and conquered much of the world of Laerad. That is until Mallorn. Enslaved to his brother Dyspater, they brought the empire to its knees fighting a bloody war leaving the empire a shadow of its former glory.Twenty years later Mallorn is now free from his enslavement and the empire is beginning a slow wane as a growing shadow falls over them. Choices must be made and now Mallorns children must choose to fight for the empire that scorns them or for the growing threat. These stories chronicle the life of Urza and Phol, Mallorn's first born. From their friendships, loves, and life's pain. They will each take their own path and the world will change with them. The book is currently in the Alpha stages of development.
