Lord of the Air: Tales of a Modern Antichrist ReviewI am up to page 152 of Lord of the Air. This book is intelligently written. Tal Brooke's eye witness account reveals his personal spiritual journey into the world of Sai Baba and all the things that go with that, Hindu meditation, avatars, sanskrit, vedic prayers, occultic secrets, astrology, and much more. I am certain his search for truth comes true at the end of the book.Lord of the Air: Tales of a Modern Antichrist OverviewThe Currently out-of-print Lord of The Air, is an abridged version of the Indian Bestseller, Avatar of Night, which is to be released in December of 1999. This will be the most complete version ever published, with 180 photographs and graphics.DescriptionAs Woodstock and the Apollo moon landing lit up the skies of history, Tal Brooke flew to New Delhi, quickly becoming immersed in the vast subcontinent of India as he pursued a radical pilgrimage of consciousness. After quickly exhausting the "Grand Tour" of landmarks popularized by the spiritual tourists of the West, Brooke plunged into wilderness India, and the journey shifted into high gear. From their first meeting, Brooke was heralded by Sai Baba, India's greatest miracle-working godman, as the inner-circle disciple who, like Oppenheimer at Los Alamos, would help trigger the explosion of India's ancient mystical tradition into the Western world.Within Baba's enchanted realm, Brooke saw and experienced things that seemed to obliterate all Western conceptions of reality as his journey vectored further into an alien universe. What had appeared as the prized state of godlike enlightenment, which seemed just within reach, became a precipicenot of enlightenmentbut obliteration, even possession. Brooke was becoming a captive soul of an ancient inner transformation, while Baba's outward divinity concealed a timeless, demonic presence. After two years of surrender to a Being who claimed to be God on earth, something remarkable happened. The end-game of spiritual powers ensnaring one man's soul turned abruptly and miraculously. Poised on the edge of a precipice, Brooke was rescued from above. With hauntingly vivid images, unexpected humor, and a profound passion for truth, Brooke lays bare the powerful reality of good and evil and of things beyond the familiar realm of the senses, in a book that will not be easily forgotten.

The Mystic Grimoire of Mighty Spells and Rituals ReviewA Grimoire is the record book of a worker of magic.
In this book, the Mystic Grimoire of Mighty Spells and Rituals,
the author, Frater Malak and his magical order of
Campo Santo, a Mystery School in Canada, researched thousands of rituals
and wrote about 27 rituals and 28 spells
that were the most effective in getting results.
Malak covers every eventuality that you could want:
Good luck, health, money and great wealth, love and sex,
invisibility, relaxation, success, and overcoming enemies.
Every angelic name appearing in this book has been throughly researched.
As an example, in the Arcane Invisibility Ritual, you call upon Yeshayah,
this is another form of the angel Metatron.
In the Overwhelming Good Luck Ritual you summon Bodiel,
this is an Spirit serving under the Goetic Spirit Barbatos.
In the Titanic Enemies Vanquished Ritual, you work with Narudi,
the Akkadian Lord of the Great Gods.
Over the last thirty five years, I have personally tested the rituals
and spells in this book. Without exception,
they have worked over time, depending upon my application of
the knowledge and secrets given in the book,
and properly executing what has been taught there.
The late author, Geof Gray-Cobb provides
an arcane admitting password, this is the Being
that guards the ritual you are working.
There are two ruling planets for each ritual.
There is a Cosmic Being with particular areas of expertise,
meaning that Being has an office. And there is an avatar mantra
that fixes the Cosmic Being upon your goal.
I believe that there is no need to feed or reward the Spirits
in this book, and the reason being that Hebraic Angels
never required offerings or sacrifices. The Biblical text
shows that Yahweh's Angels told humans do not bow down
and do not worship them in any way.
All told this magic works amazingly well.
I believe that this book was one of the best if not the best
work that the author wrote. He called it a feast of magic.
This magical system was inspired by Geof Gray-Cobb's
spirit guide.
This Grimoire was published in 1976.
But remains a definitive work about magical evocation.
That is the art and science of calling down spirits.
And most importantly getting results
for magicians and sorcerers of today.
Try it and see the glorious results.

Unknown Armies (2nd Edition) ReviewUnknown Armies is great. If you are a fan of Tim Powers or Ken Hite, or even know who they are, then you want this book. The various levels the game can take (street, global, or cosmic) add a good twist. My players keep saying: We don't know what that is because you wont let us read ahead! For tone, setting, and over all feel this is a great RPG.
The downside: Unless you have played Unknown Armies 1st Edition, this is a completly new system. The broad possibilites of skill sets are great, if you have people who like making those things up. My group is a mix and so we had some people who were not as happy about that. One of the biggest complaints so far is in the descriptors of levels for madness and skills. Especially the skills. The difference between a 40s Speed Stat (picking one at random here) and a 60s Speed stat is difficult to understand. Number wise its no problem, the descriptions could have been better.
So far thats the main problem, but we are still learning the system. Overall the ideas are great, but some of the mechanics, at least in their descriptions, are a bit disappointing.Unknown Armies (2nd Edition) OverviewWhat will you risk to change the world? The acclaimed RPG of modern occult intrigue returns in a stunning new hardcover edition. Completely reorganized, largely rewritten, and jam-packed with new art, the second edition of Unknown Armies isn't just better. It kicks metaphysical ass! We've remixed the book based on the level of campaign you want to play: Street, Global, or Cosmic. At street level, you're outsiders to the secret world of magick, ordinary people entering a land of mystery and peril. At global level, you're mojo-wielding cabalists in the occult underground, pursuing your arcane agendas and plotting against your rivals. At cosmic level, you're in tune with the cosmos itself, fighting to shape the next incarnation of reality. Background material is divided up as well, so new players in a street-level campaign only read what the GM wants them to know. But the beats don't stop there: Much more information for new players, to get them into the mindset of the game and help them make better characters and stronger campaigns. * New character-creation options, including Trigger Events, Paradigm Skills, and power levels scaled to match the level of campaign you're playing. * Numerous rules tweaks, including a new initiative system, Fuzzy Logic skill checks, player-directed combat modifiers, amped-up martial arts rules, a new experience system, and more, all dedicated to upgrading UA's innovative percentile system into a lean and precise tool for fast play and player empowerment. * More magick for non-adepts: Authentic Thaumaturgy, new rituals and artifacts, and revised versions of Proxy Magick and Tilts allow the freewheeling use of symbolic, sympathetic magick by anyone with the will to make it happen. * Twelve schools of magick (up from seven in UA1) for obsessed adepts, including revised versions of published schools (Bibliomancy, Personamancy, and Urbanomancy) and two new schools (Videomancy and Narcotic Alchemy). * Fourteen avatars (up from eight in UA1) for archetypalists, including revised versions of published avatars (The Messenger, The Mother, The Mystic Hermaphrodite, and the True King) and two new avatars (The MVP and The Warrior). * More resources for the GM, including specific guidance on combat, wounds, skill checks, campaign building, and other critical issues. * New cover art and design, new interior art and design, and a hardcover binding to keep this game in line.

PEOPLE OF THE BEAR MOTHER ReviewSeveral years ago on a trip to France, I visited the famous caves of Las caux. Like all visitors, I was fascinated by the pre-historic drawings on the cavern walls. The beautiful but enigmatic creatures painted on the walls mesmerized everyone in our tour group, and we all ventured a guess as to their meaning to the primitive people who painted them.
Not until I read T.D. Austin's "People of The Bear Mother" did the art truley come alive. Though years have passed since my visit to France, Austin's story took me into an adventure at the heart of pre-historic man and his life. His descriptions of the cave painting became vivid in my mind and rekindled the yearnings I had to learn of our ancestor's simple life with complex spiritual paths. I applaud Austins work and imagination. I can't wait for my next journey with T.D Austin.PEOPLE OF THE BEAR MOTHER OverviewSHAMANS, AVATARS AND PAINTED CAVES-------------------------------------------------------------------Little Bear, a beautiful and gifted cave artist, descends into the depths of the Great Cave guided by the most powerful shaman of her tribe, the People of the Bear Mother, where she is to paint a new image portraying her people's most significant myth. But before she may enter the deepest chambers of the awesome cave she must be initiated as a shaman herself. In spite of her fear of the old shaman, her reluctance to take the shaman's path, and her mother's strong opposition, Little Bear agrees to accept this life-altering invitation to embark on her soul's great hero adventure. How will this journey into the depths of her own psyche transform her life among the People? How will this adventure change all the subsequent lifetimes this soul's avatars will experience? And what is the meaning of Little Bear's mysterious "lion eye"? To enrich these stories of past lives that are coming through as a result of a recent creative opening, Austin draws on a lifetime of study of actual archaeological finds, specifically those of the oldest artwork in the world, the paintings of 35,000-year-old Chauvet Cave in southern France. The meaning of this cave art is revealed through the story of Little Bear, and are universal human truths that have resonance and meaning for all of us today. Austin taught college-level courses for many years before becoming a full-time writer. Inspired by the discoveries of Jean Clottes within the 35,000-year-old Chauvet Cave, Austin wrote People of the Bear Mother, the first of several books in Austin's Periplus of the Soul series. THE MIRACLE OF NEW AVATAR POWER ReviewAs a practicing Sorcerer, I have nothing but good things to say about this manual. I put it to the test last year with the chants for Success and Money to specifically help me locate a particular type of employment and the "miracle" exceeded my expectations!
I have practiced candle magic, Qabala, evocations, and the like since 1987 and I am simply impressed. This book should be must reading for ALL who wish to make use of metaphysical forces in their lives. It truly is a modern day grimoire.
The NAP Ritual itself is a deep relaxation type of rite and then you practice the Central Pillar Rite which is from the Golden Dawn's "Middle Pillar Exercise" and charge those five sephiroth. Then use the Fountain technique and finally the Headless One invocation to get yourself thoroughly charged up. THEN you use one of the chants and I read the ones I wanted three times along with vibrating the Names of the Spirits from the chants.
Needless to say, if you don't want to go thru years of tedious study, get a copy of this grimoire, study it and above all, practice it! You will be pleasantly thrilled at the results you obtain!THE MIRACLE OF NEW AVATAR POWER Overview

Dancing with the Avatar (Descent (Destiny Image)) ReviewSince I have "lived" a story similar to Jovan's, in that I was there, at the same ashram, 2 years after she left. Nothing was unfamiliar in her story. Delivered in a most astonishing way, that, I must admit, I resisted at first. Emotions; personified brilliantly, surprisingly, originally; in a way that brought me to tears several times while reading. I know the characters personally, or some exactly like Jovan so vividly describes.
To be honest, I have no Idea whether someone unfamiliar with the ashram, of which she writes, would think of this work. However, I could not put it down. I put off meals to read. This is true life! For me, I was Maya, the main character, living her story. I only have one criticism, and that is, I still have to wait for yet another book, and possibly several more before I find out what happens. I cannot wait. Though, I am grateful that she and I have survived.
There is something universal about Jovan's deeper perspective. And, indeed there may be lines that should never be crossed. For any reason. Not for the sake of gaining power and influence, no matter what the cause appears to be, and no matter how spiritual and altruistic the claims.
I finished the book yesterday, I have not stopped contemplating it's effect, since. It is a real life, powerful drama to me, having been in the next wave of devotees after Jovan left the ashram in India.
This book is a must read for anyone on a spiritual journey. And a must read for anyone thinking about embarking on one.
I was under "Cha Ma's", Amma's influence for 10 years. This is no joke. Many of us are afraid to speak. I know, I am one of them. Thank God, for you Jovan!
anonymousDancing with the Avatar (Descent (Destiny Image)) Overview
Maya delves deeper into things not of God. Having given up her promising life without a single glance back, she moves to an ashram in India to worship her guru, Cha Ma—whom many believe to be an avatar of the goddess Kali.

Maya spirals deeper and deeper into a fantastical, supernatural world that is beyond her wildest dreams and worst nightmares. As an insidious web of evil weaves tightly about her, Maya sinks into greater and greater delusion—slipping between euphoric highs and suicidal lows. Maya's experiences cause her to question her beliefs and test her sanity.

On the other side of the world, after having been unwittingly tossed into the deadly battle by Maya's choice to move to India, her parents continue to face increasingly more difficult emotional, physical, and spiritual battles as they fight for Maya's life.

The stakes are high in this violent war between good and evil as heavenly angels and demonic beings strategize and battle to gain ground for the souls of Maya, her parents, and people close to them.

As Maya dabbles deeper and deeper into things not of God, the evil surrounding her threatens to overwhelm and destroy her and others. Will Maya survive in her chosen new world? Will her parents survive the warfare aimed at them because of loving her?

Chasing the Avatar (Descent) (Descent (Destiny Image)) ReviewWorthy of her Harvard Education, Jovan Jones writes in a poetic, briskly paced, and original style. I could not put this book down. She has written a powerful, true to life account, that literally thousand's can relate to from their own experiences.
I have lived in Amritapuri, India and traveled with Ammachi. This book is A MUST READ for anyone who has been a devotee or thinking about becoming one. "Chasing the Avatar" will be shocking for those seeking enlightenment with a so called "Avatar".
Jovan writes brilliantly, and personally, through the eyes of a Christian, but relevant from any religious background, or context. This tale attests to the reality that destructive cults can arise in religious as well as secular organizations.
Jovan was brought up Christian, but was also a "spiritual seeker" in her early adult life. And naturally curious. She, like so many, could not see the danger going in. As the main character, Maya (Jovan) learns, spiritual quests are not without danger,
Thank God that Maya, grew up in a loving, spiritual household. Without that, I don't think she would have lived to tell her story. If you are a Devotee reading this, I mean no offense to you. Many committed, wonderful people can be deceived, and are being deceived. I am one of them. Amma, is playing god. No question about that. She demands submission, also. She "is" the only "authority" in her twisted and, at times, disgusting world.
I know of the 9 deaths at the Ashram that were not investigated. That doesn't include the other mysterious deaths, of devotees, who died when they were outside the Ashram in India. Some of those deaths were predicted by Ammachi. Some said: "oh Amma told him not to go to Varkala, He fell off the cliff, on the first day". " Amma knows everything". etc. Many of these kinds of stories are circulating at all times. Little mythologies, that all boil down to one thing: worshiping Ammachi, as god. No Devotee of hers can deny it. They openly worship her as god. Their god. Even if some can't quite get that she "created everything" they still ritualistically worship her. Mindlessly. Unquestioningly.
I am a witness to Amma's rage, and cruelty also, and I will not soon forget it. Thank God for you, Jovan! for telling it like it is, in a way, that for me was emotionally gripping, and sometimes terrifying, Thank you for telling my story through your's.
I am greatful, that you have exposed the dark side of the so called "Hugging saint"
Thank You!Chasing the Avatar (Descent) (Descent (Destiny Image)) OverviewMaya is a young woman with extraordinary prospects drowning in intense discontent. In the midst of this discontent, she meets Cha Ma, a guru. Immediately, she comes to believe that Cha Ma is an avatara human incarnationof the goddess Kali, the most malevolent, destructive of all Hindu deities. Spellbound, Maya runs off to India to live in Cha Mas ashram as a Hindu. Her choice hurls her parents, Paul and Marie, into a battle far beyond their wildest imagination for they must fight for their daughters life, and even her soul, as she teeters on the edge.

Avatar of Night, Special Millennial Edition ReviewIt is not surprising that the first review of this book was overwhelmingly negative. Sai Baba, after all, has millions of disciples, and this book stands alone as the only comprehensive and credible, dissenting account of Baba's claims to be God.
The story is cinematic. The narrative is evocative and immersive, and is begging to make the transition to feature film. The book, written by a child of the sixties, tells a tale common to the era - a search for spiritual truth - but an uncommon tale in that the author went on a road less traveled, journeying to India and ending up as an intimate disciple of the country's most popular and charismatic guru, whose devotees include members of the Indian government.
But it is more serious than that. Baba is more than a guru. Baba claims to be God. The God. Your God and my God. That he can appear to back up this claim by performing dramatic miracles - materializing solid objects from thin air is one example - and having some undeniable level of revelatory knowledge into people's thoughts, makes him a very dangerous person if his claims are false.
To call this book 'one-sided' is completely missing the point. The book, if anything, tells two sides of the story in its answering the question about Baba's divinity.
The first half of the book is an account by an intimate disciple convinced of Baba's divinity. The second half recounts in great detail the gradual process of revelation of another side to Baba - a 'spiritual detective story', if you like - ultimately leading up to a powerful and dramatic conclusion.
When people set themselves up with any kind of power over us, whether politicians or spiritual leaders, it is important that their lives and their beliefs that influence and affect us are transparent and open for examination. In other words: if God gave us minds, presumably he would want us to use them.
The fact is that this book is the only chance that most worshipers of Baba around the world are going to get to hear an informed, alternative opinion of Baba's claims. And that the opinion is offered by one of the few people who can claim to have known him closely for two years requires them to pay attention.
I first read this book ten years ago, when it was available in the West as 'Lord of the Air'. It is one of the few books that I have read many, many times - no small praise from an English graduate and journalist.
The literary quality of the account, the intense and gripping story, the integrity of the investigation Brooke undertakes, and the personal suffering Brooke later underwent to get the text published in the West after the Indian government banned it, make this one of the few books that you absolutely have to read. Whether you have any interest in Baba, or just enjoy a good real-life adventure story, this book is highly recommended.Avatar of Night, Special Millennial Edition OverviewAs Woodstock and the Apollo moon landing lit up the skies of history, Tal Brooke flew to New Delhi, quickly becoming immersed in the vast subcontinent of India as he pursued a radical pilgrimage of consciousness.
