Avenging Fury (Fury and the Terror) ReviewAlthough mortals see her as a freak even when she saves their lives and has the FBI psychopath assassins after her, Eden Waring proves time after time she is a caring Avatar; she uses her mental skills to keep people safe. Her recent efforts brought her into war against Mordaunt the evil one from another plane, who thought he could manipulate the twenty-something female as his pawn to bring chaos to this realm. He thought wrong as Eden defeated him and incarcerated his physical form inside molten glass (see THE FURY AND THE POWER).
However, Eden makes one key mistake caused by her inexperience as an avatar fighting non-human malevolencies. Part of Mordaunt's soul escaped the imprisonment just prior to the glass melting. Thus his female persona Delilah is not just out there; she goes to 1926 Georgia waiting to possess Eden's doppelganger Gwen when the latter arrives. Near Vegas just after the Mordant meltdown, in Eden's present, Delilah inside Gwen confronts the kindhearted Avatar with both using Dark Energy that will change the Universe.
The final "Fury" tale may have taken three decades to arrive, but fans will fully appreciate this strong horror suspense thriller as the climatic good vs. evil showdown occurs. The story line is hyper fast-paced from the onset and never takes a breather even when Gwen goes back in time as John Farris accelerates the velocity of his plot. Fans of the saga will appreciate the invigorating finish to an exhilarating epic quartet.

I Can See You ReviewI CAN SEE YOU is one of Karen Rose's finest books to date. This book will make you scared, thrilled and fascinated at the same time. Eve Wilson is a wonderfully real heroine, who was disfigured by an attacker several years before. Her way of coping was to escape into a virtual world where she could create a beautiful online identity. When she finally claws her way back to the real world, she wants to help others regain self confidence. As a graduate student of psychology, she has students play the virtual reality game in the hopes they will learn to socialize more effectively in the real world. When several of her "students" turn up dead, Eve joins forces with troubled Homicide Detective Noah Webster to find the man murdering these people. In their search for the killer, they learn to trust one another.
What sets this book apart from so many others is the brilliant way Rose makes you think anyone could be the killer. When reading the book I found myself shouting at the heroine not to trust this person, then that person. Be forewarned: Don't read this book at night.

The Choice (Virtual War Chronologs) ReviewThis is Skurzynski's fourth book in the Virtual War Chronologs. While it's possible to read each book as a stand-alone book, you would lose an incredible amount of the story. I would highly recommend starting with "Virtual War: The Virtual War Chronologs" and then continue with "The Clones," "The Revolt," and lastly "The Choice." In this story Corgan is now 16 and has matured quite a bit. The book is rated for grades 5-8, but he faces many problems and decisions that adults would have trouble with, and I found myself totally immersed in the different dilemmas. As an animal lover, I also love the way animals are incorporated into the story. I don't want to give anything away to someone who has read the first three books, but if you are a SciFi fan you'll love this series! The conclusion will keep you on the edge of your seat. The books are well-researched and have good scientific detail. They're also pretty easy to read and are incredibly fast-paced. A perfect weekend would be to get all four books and read them start to finish, especially if you're snowed in and sitting by a fire! The Choice (Virtual War Chronologs) Overview

Second Chances ReviewSecond Chances is what I would term a paranormal suspense with a touch of romance. This is a genre that is new to me; at least since I read Anne Rice's vampire series years ago. But I'm not comparing the two as there are no vampires in this story. Second Chances is a story of good versus evil. What comes to the fore, however, are the qualities of forgiveness and love. In this story, the two main characters take totally different paths in life--one goes down the road of good; the other becomes evil. Now most of us would take the stance that the evil one "gets what he deserves", but in this story we see that love is ever expanding and that not only can it overcome evil, but it can actually transform evil into something that is pure love. In the end, what I took away from this riveting story is that there really is no evil in the universe--there is only love. We all travel down paths of our own making; some of these paths might be good while others might be negative or evil, but in the end there is no condition (whether physical or spiritual) that cannot be transformed by love.
This wonderful story comes with a strong message that while subtle, cannot be dismissed. The story holds the reader spellbound with its tale of paranormal events, evil deeds, suspense, friendship and romance. At the end of the day, however, the message comes through loud and clear. Everything is love; everything can be transformed by love. In Second Chances, I was enthralled, held in suspense and even enchanted, in the end I came away feeling inspired and opening my heart to the fact that love truly does conquer all.

Second Chances OverviewHaunted by an apparition who threatens her life and the lives of her friends, Freddie Marsh, a successful commodity analyst, searches for answers and finds herself facing her worst nightmare. The darkness she senses in this ghostly stalker is more than her imagination. Reluctant to embrace the powers she has always dismissed, she follows the guidance of a wolf known as Avatar, who knows well the power of the darkness stalking her. The confrontation with her ghostly stalker disrupts the status quo. Freddie's addiction to control has always isolated her from close relationships, leaving work as the only stable connection in her life. Now, as every corner of her life is invaded, her self-sufficiency is lost. She must trust others if she is to survive, and most of all, she must risk trusting herself because using the paranormal ability she fears is the only way she can survive. Her stalker's rage at the perversity of his world long ago unleashed his power, and now control over the world around him, including Freddie, becomes his quest. The intensity of his negativity hurtles them both toward the edge of extinction.

Death Match ReviewChristopher Lash is a psychologist specializing in marital relationships. He previous worked for the FBI, giving him insight into criminal behavior. This is the reason officials at Eden Inc. have contacted him, to investigate the mysterious double-suicide of two of their clients.
Eden is a matchmaker, but unlike any before it. Eden uses a highly advanced Artificial Intelligence to match individuals on every little detail (more than a million criteria). Lewis and Lindsay Thorpe were two such individuals, and were also the company's first "supercouple:" two people who are a 100% match. But now they are dead...and Lash must find out why. Because another supercouple has killed themselves...and there are four more such couples to go. But finding out why two perfect couples would want to kill themselves is only half of Lash's problem, because somebody is messing with his life, in ways that could only be done through the technology available at Eden...
"Death Match" is a top-notch thriller from Lincoln Child, who has brought us (especially in collaboration with Douglas Preston) so many enjoyable, well-planned thrillers. This novel is no exception; though it is a bit predictable, it is still enthralling. The technological details are broken down into layman's terms, but with serious research behind them. Lash is an appealing, conflicted character, as are those he encounters. While "Death Match" may not be Child's best work to-date, it is certainly worth checking out, and a repeated reading or two.Death Match Overview

The Avatar Syndrome (Prequel to Headless World) ReviewI will start out by saying that this book was not for the casual reader. It is intense and heavy reading. With that said, I want to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed it. While it had spiritual themes, it is not your mainline Christian book, but it really does make you think. It is thought-provoking and will stimulate and challenge you.The Avatar Syndrome (Prequel to Headless World) OverviewThe Avatar Syndrome follows Anne from childhood, to womanhood; from a troubled, taciturn youth, to a world-renowned violinist; from misunderstood recluse, to messiah of a higher truth and beauty.A product of the expansive cultural landscape of our times, Law, an architect, sculptor and a consummate student of ancient myths, fuses the teachings of Lao Tzu, Jesus, St Thomas Aquinas and Indian mysticism with contemporary issues of family, youth, feminism, fame and power to deliver a singular vision of what it could mean to be human.
Thank you, Stan for so beautiful and brilliant book. Through your book, you were able to awaken in me my true nature.K. Laycraft M.Sc., Center of Chaotic Studies, Alta. Canada
Thanks for your contribution to the literary world. I appreciate how you always include the spiritual element in your novels. R. Witthoeft, Florida USA
This book is . . . for those who love art, philosophy and science. Once again, (Law) touches us by his deep sensitivity for the psychological and spiritual growth of a human being. I. Gorska-Flipot Ph.D. Mtl., Quebec

The Tenth Avatar ReviewMr. Naiman has written a great book for long travels or cold nights by the fireplace. For one think it is just the right length for a long trip abroad. Second, it has many references to global locations with a lot of local history and color. Showed solid research. A bit on the intellectual side, but lots of action. Highly recommended. The Tenth Avatar OverviewFour strangers journey to the Far East, each escaping a bitter past. Drawn together by an ancient prophecy, they climb toward a downed aircraft in the Himalaya, unaware that the plane s cargo will change the world forever...The Tenth Avatar is the ultimate high adventure. Set in the turbulent 1930 s with locations in Europe, Asia, and America, Avatar follows four strangers toward a prophetic battle at the roof of the world.
