Amazonia ReviewHere you go folks, a book seemingly designed for those with ADD. Extreme action, mutated creatures, explosives, giant jaguars, violence( including dismemberment and head shrinking!), a dash of sex, poison, betrayal, technology on the fritz, insects that will eat you alive, pirahnas that will chase you onto land, giant caimans that will jump into trees, a lost tribe, a plague threatening the world, prehistoric plants, and regenerating body parts!
Whew, that's a lot of stuff going on and James Rollins pulls most of it off without a glitch. The characters are strong enough to make you care, the action is most definitely exciting, the various creatures interesting and nasty enough to shock and awe even the most poised reader. So why not 5 stars? Well...
The ending could have been better, there could have been a little bit more surprise when it comes to the realization of who the "mole" is (that was kinda Scooby Doo-ish), and those who deserved horrible demises get dispatched rather quickly.
However, if you have read Rollins earlier work you most likely won't be dissapointed here. No matter how you look at it this guy is damn fun to read, and his books would make excellent movies. I know I'd buy a ticket, and speaking of buying check out Subterrranean and Excavation, both solid actioners.
No Tor-Tors were harmed in the writing of this review.Amazonia Overview
The Rand scientific expedition entered the lush wilderness of the Amazon and never returned. Years later, one of its members has stumbled out of the world's most inhospitable rainforest -- a former Special Forces soldier, scarred, mutilated, terrified, and mere hours from death, who went in with one arm missing . . . and came out with both intact. Unable to comprehend this inexplicable event, the government sends Nathan Rand into this impenetrable secret world of undreamed-of perils, to follow the trail of his vanished father . . . toward mysteries that must be solved at any cost. But the nightmare that is awaiting Nate and his team of scientists and seasoned U.S. Rangers dwarfs any danger they anticipated; an ancient, unspoken terror -- a power beyond human imagining -- that can forever alter the world beyond the dark, lethal confines of . . .

Joe R. Lansdale's The Drive-In ReviewThe Adaptation of Joe Lansdale's "The Drive-In" is as much about humanistic horror as it is supernatural. A devious, and visceral lab experiment with humans as the test subjects. A group of young friends in Texas decide to spend an evening at the Orbit drive-in movie theater to see an all night long horror film festival with movies like "Evil Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and more, but the terror will soon turn all too real. Best friends Jack and Bob, along with sheepish Randy, and tough biker Willard think they're in for a long evening of horror classics and beer when the appearance of a meteor changes everything. Suddenly the four friends find themselves trapped in the drive-in with hundreds of other customers by an otherworldly force. They are virtually cut off from the rest of the world by a darkened sky and an impenetrable wall which virtually melts anyone who tries to leave.
Without any means of calling for help, and dwindling food supplies from the concession stand, it is the reactions of the captives that provide the true horror. Some rage forth to try and takeover the concession stand for themselves, others decide that end of the world sex is the way to go, while a fundamentalist Christian movement starts up preaching the way of God. Jack retreats into a shell and has to be pulled out of his self-imposed isolation by Bob who has a hidden stash of food in his car. Meanwhile Willard and Randy's relationship soon turns grossly symbiotic. The pair takes over the concession stand and are struck by a bolt of lightening which should have killed them both. Instead, the pair's bodies have become virtually fused together in a twisted, corroded form that now calls itself the Popcorn King. This demonic dark lord soon has most of the residents worshipping him as a God, even as he feasts upon their bodies. Bob & Jack soon realize that they may be the only hope of salvation for the survivors as they hatch a plot to destroy the Popcorn King.
Lansdale's original story is adapted by Christopher Golden who is probably best known for his Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels as well as writer of the Buffy comic for Dark Horse. He is aided greatly by the beautifully chaotic artwork of Andres Guinaldo who captures the drive-in in all its animalistic glory. The true horror isn't the demonic Popcorn King but seeing how humanity quickly degrades in the face of adversity. Typical, and outstanding Lansdale and a fine job by Golden and Guinaldo. The graphic novel also includes an interview with Landsdale.

Joe R. Lansdale's The Drive-In OverviewWhen a group of friends decided to spend a day at the world's largest Drive-In theater horror fest, they expected to see tons of bloody murders, rampaging madmen, and mayhem - but only on the screen. As a mysterious force traps all the patrons inside the Drive-In, the worst in humanity comes out. Filled with Lansdale's razor whit and black humor, The Drive-In is a darkly humorous masterpiece! Collected here is the complete four issue series with bonus material including a new interview with Lansdale himself about the writing of The Drive-In.

The Legacy of Balthazar: Inheritance ReviewExcellent character development. Written by the guy who installed and works on my air/heating system. Cool. Man of all talents. The Legacy of Balthazar: Inheritance OverviewAn ancient and powerful alien civilization, all but destroyed by a celestial impact millennia ago. Now, after thousands of years, their plan to rebuild their race is nearing fruition, and it's happening here, on Earth. In the near future, the world is running out of known deposits of fossil fuels. Dr. Amanda Johnson, a brilliant, beautiful, and extremely tall computer designer and programmer, has been recruited by DARPA to design a satellite based scanning system to locate any hidden carbon reserves on the planet. This system, based in Phoenix, Arizona and called AUGER, will also be re-tasked to continuously track all nuclear materials once the carbon scans are completed.Amanda''s fraternal twin brother, Tyler Johnson, also brilliant and extremely tall, is a world traveling archaeologist, working with their adoptive parents Gordon and Ashley Jameson. Tyler is aware of Amanda's carbon based scanner system, and asks her to use it to search for small carbon deposits that may lead to previously undiscovered archaeological sites for him to excavate. Amanda agrees, and, using Majel, a computer A.I. that she has developed, and that Tyler has, unknown to her at the time, modified, she finds several thousand potential sites, one of which is most unusual. A large cube shaped object buried in North Carolina. After informing her brother, he and their parents go to investigate. What they find will change their lives, and the world, forever.Amanda and Tyler embark on an incredible journey that will take them as far away as the surface of Mars, and even to other dimensions. Along the way they will encounter aliens, suicidal terrorists, nuclear weapons, and even rogue elements of their own military. Difficulties which pale in comparison when they discover that they, Amanda and Tyler Johnson, are themselves another world's Legacy.

The Bloodlight Chronicles: Reconciliation ReviewI'm not sure where to start with this one - probably because I was very lost at the beginning. I thought that perhaps I had picked up a second in a series, but I could find no reference to a first book anywhere. The book in a nutshell is vampires meet cyperspace, but this isn't clear at first.
The Eternals are somehow "chosen" to become immortal in a non-aging sense. People can link to cyberspace by hooking up with a cord coming out of their head which seems to be connected to microchips they have had implanted in their brain. Ok - so far I'm following, but then come the strange references to levels and ranks in the cyberworld with no real explanation of what they mean.
Now, if you take the Eternals and the cyberworld somewhat out of the equation, the realtionships between the people are fascinating. The story revolves around a father, mother, and son. The parents are both Eternals and are trying to find a way to "infect" their son as well. They travel to the ends of the known universe (literally) to try and find this virus. However, beyond this the relationship was rather odd. Perhaps as a result of being so virtual based, the family's responses to each other seemed overly strained and impersonal.
2/5The Bloodlight Chronicles: Reconciliation OverviewDespite its futuristic technical trappings, enduring family bonds are at the core of this riveting techno-thriller. An alien virus that prolongs life has infected a couple, Zakariah and Mia Davis, and made their blood a valuable black-market staple due to its rejuvenating effects. The "eternal virus" has not affected their son Rix, and Zakariah is consumed with the search for an active sample to inoculate the teenager against mortality. To succeed, Zakariah surgically wired his brain for the global computer network, a virtual cyber-economy controlled by avatars. Busted for transporting grain without a permit and on the run from the government and the Eternal Research Institute, Zakariah must travel off-planet through a commercial wormhole alongside his new business partner and surgical cyber-twin, Helena Sharp, who is seeking the source of immortality for her own purposes. In the Cromeus colonies, on the other side of time and space, Zakariah will risk everything to give his son eternal life.

Kingdom Keepers II: Disney At Dawn ReviewHaving been a Disney cast member for many years, I read Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark, and now it's sequel Kingdom Keepers II: Disney at Dawn with great interest. Both offer a fun read for kids and adults alike. With "Disney at Dawn," author Ridley Pearson has continued his story of the Kingdom Keepers, a group of school children who originally modeled for the fictional holographic Interactive Host Program at Disney's Magic Kingdom but who now find themselves the unofficial protectors of Disney. In the original story, the kids are magically transported into the Magic Kingdom at night while they're asleep. Their mission - to find out who is behind the mysterious goings on in the park after dark. Animatronic figures are roaming the parks and Disney characters have come alive, including the villians. Now, in the sequel, the kids again find themselves in the park; this time in Disney's Animal Kingdom. They must delve deeper into the mystery of the Overtakers, to find out which super villian is really in charge and what horrible scheme the villians have in mind. Fans of Disney, especially cast members past and present, will enjoy the refereneces to familiar locations and settings. Sure, there are some glaring errors (Ridley, it's Fantasmic, not the fantasmics) and some lesser errors that only cast members will appreciate (there are some interesting assumptions concerning ride operation and cast member IDs for example) but it is a work of fiction, so those mistakes offer an additional element of interest for those of us who work in the industry. I strongly recommend this series as a wonderful read for all ages. With page-turning actions, humorous dialogue, and engaging characters, it's a fun addition to any library!Kingdom Keepers II: Disney At Dawn OverviewIt's supposed to be a happy day at the Magic Kingdom-the return of the teenaged holographic hosts. But things go very wrong when a sudden lightning storm disrupts the celebration, and Amanda's mysterious sister, Jez, disappears. The only clue is the sighting of a wild monkey in the Magic Kingdom during the storm. The mystery deepens as Finn is contacted by Wayne, an old man he hasn't heard from in months. Wayne tells Finn that there's trouble at the Animal Kingdom: the evil Overtakers have gained control of one of the computer servers that will be used to operate Daylight Holographic Imaging there. That means that if any of the holographic hosts fall asleep, they will go into comas-permanently. Filled with action and brimming with the same meticulous detail as The Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark, this second book in the series-Disney at Dawn-is the result of hands-on research behind the scenes at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. Young and older readers alike will get a glimpse into a second Disney kingdom. The wild rides have only just begun; and the clock is ticking. How long can the teens keep themselves awake in their quest to find their friend-and what happens if they fail?

Portia is excited to have a new detective case and dives right in helping her new friend. The case involves a rabbit named Maxwell. He's one of the stray animals Misty has an uncanny knack for finding and bringing home. Although her mother doesn't approve, she can't seem to avoid running into animals with problems. Along with Maxwell the depressed bunny, she is dealing with a three-legged grasshopper that escapes in Portia's mother's restaurant, The Tent.
Needless to say, Misty is keeping Portia busy.
In other plot action, Portia is still searching for her absent father, Patch. She is hoping for new developments in that case and gets one from an unlikely source, Vera, owner of Trash and Treasures.
There is also a possible romantic interest in Portia's life. Webster the math genius seems to be trying to get Portia's attention with what he says is an important question.
Indigo's restaurant is once again a backdrop for much of the action. This time the menu item of interest is the pomegranate, and Portia finds herself sampling all sorts of crazy concoctions her mother creates.
PORTIA'S EXCLUSIVE AND CONFIDENTIAL RULES ON TRUE FRIENDSHIP is a fun read with whimsical characters, a bit of mystery, and insightful comments regarding the meaning of friendship.
Portia offers a needed breath of fresh air in tween lit. She doesn't worry about make-up, hair styles, and fashion magazines. Instead, she focuses on family and friends and helping make the world a better place.

Writing for Animation, Comics, and Games ReviewMore than a few years ago, I had the extremely good fortune to be mentored in the art of animation writing by Christy Marx, who told it like it was about the biz and taught me all about the basics in great detail. Now a professional myself with credits as an animation production coordinator and writer, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book. Not only does it cover all the ground she taught me about animation writing with the same depth and care, it takes on comics and videogames, two mediums which have become more and more intertwined with animation over the last two decades -- something which is taken into account throughout the book. Whether you're trying to figure out if any or all of this areas are for you, or just looking for a better understanding of the business, this is an excellent primer.Writing for Animation, Comics, and Games Overview

MetalMagic: Talisman ReviewDerek Donais' initial entry into Fantasy Fiction is a heartfelt, adrenaline-laced adventure that gives readers what they want while providing keen insights. The book's first chapter introduces readers to the main character, an inquisitive boy that wants to understand Metanduil and its link to those that are gifted enough to use the alloy to perform magic. Jaren's sister, Morgaine, has the ability to use the magic metal but Jaren does not, despite the increasing connection he feels to the magic.
An immediate conflict emerges between Jaren, Morgaine, and another gifted village girl. It is a conflict that will force the brother and sister to leave everything behind in search of refuge, but the pair is chased across the land by sinister agents. Morgaine has the potential to become a truly powerful Valir (someone that wields Metanduil and acts as an advisor to the land's various kings). The agents are desperate to reach Morgaine and deliver her to a corrupted Valir that has developed a weapon that can destroy kingdoms with a single blow. The Warwitch has already killed one king and her army threatens to overrun the rest of the world.
What none of them, including Jaren, realize is that the boy is the most powerful of them all. Jaren can use magic without the use of magic metal, but his first attempt at controlling the power is an utter failure...and without control, Jaren knows that he will destroy everything around him, including those he loves.
Donais' writing style is fluid while providing outstanding descriptive narrative; it is the kind of writing style that readers of any age should enjoy because the author understands all of the creative elements of a great story: plot, tempo, theme, and mood. Most importantly, MagicMetal has a message for all of us that live in the modern, technically driven world: science and technology are tools, they are neither good nor evil. It is how we, as individuals, decide to use these tools that determine if we are good.
The climatic finish kept me on edge for the last hour of reading as I fought beside Donais' heroes. I could see the instant flashes of magic in a multitude of colors. I could feel the power of the spells. I felt the emotions of Jaren and his sister as they struggled to survive against the Warwitch...
This was an outstanding first book for a new voice in Fantasy Fiction. I highly recommend reading this novel and watching Derek Donais over the coming years. I am hoping for many more novels from this writer.

The Terminal State (Avery Cates) ReviewAvery Cates can't seem to get a break. He's somewhat like Indiana Jones in the sense that he is the reluctant hero and things keep adding up and working against him... just Avery seems to come out worse for wear at the end of every adventure. The Terminal State is the fourth book in the Avery Cates series which is authored by Jeff Somers.
The book is an excellent fast paced read into a Noir/ Cyber Punk/ Sci-Fi world that is great fun to read about but we really don't want it to ever happen to us. Society has collapsed and the SSF (police) who are basically machine avatars are on one side of the fight while the army fighting them is on the other side. Humans and Avery Cates in particular are caught in the middle. Once again Avery is forced back on the rail and things are set in motion that are out of his hands but the ride is worth every penny of the price of admission.
Avery gets pressed and forced into the army. While he is given all sorts of nifty augments life just doesn't get better for our hero... if you can call him that. You see, Avery Cates isn't a good man. He's rather selfish and in it for himself. He says freely what others only think and does what ever he wants. He does live by a code that may be twisted but it is also one of the reasons Avery Cates is a hero.
The writing is witty and clever and Jeff Somers has Avery saying some of the best lines I've read in any book. The futility of the situation leads to lines that will just crack you up and make your day brighter. Just for an example of style, think of Jeff Somers as the love child of William Gibson and Douglas Adams. Now that is not bad company to be in at all.
You should definitely read this series if you like Noir/ Cyberpunk/ Sci-Fi and when you do start with the first book or you may get lost. One of the great things that Jeff Somers does not do is use three or four pages to remind readers of what happened in the last book. Sometimes it is a couple of sentences and nothing deeply descriptive which in my opinion is a good thing. I know authors do it so books can be read out of order but it just annoys me. If you are reading the series you should start at number one and keep going.
The three previous books were also 5 out 5 Stars so pick them up and check them out. I've put them in order below:
1) The Electric Church
2) The Digital Plague
3) The Eternal Prison
4) The Terminal State
I will now be anxiously awaiting the 5th book due in 2011: The Final EvolutionThe Terminal State (Avery Cates) OverviewAvery Cates is an army man.Between the army's new dental plan and a set of first class augments, he's been given a second chance - albeit a quick one. When a corrupt officer decides to make some money on the side by selling new recruits, Cates finds himself in uncharted territory.Sold to the highest bidder, his visions of escape and revenge quickly come to an end when he realizes who's bought him - and for what.Because the high bidder is Canny Orel himself. And he wants Cates to do one last job as the System slides into chaos.Cates will have one shot at getting back at Canny - but this time, Canny is holding all the cards.

Princess of Gossip ReviewThere are many reasons to read this book. The authors made it simple to "see" the story play out by making the characters realistic and easy to relate to, the plot line is both believable and fun, and they incorporated lots and lots of pop culture. But I think the biggest thing that makes this book different is how well it built technology into the story-- like cell phones and MySpace, which we all use now. I'd never read a book that seemed to "get" how we use those things and build them into the story so well.
If you keep up with pop culture, and you have ever experienced drama - online or otherwise - this book is a must-read for you.Princess of Gossip Overview Who knows better than Sabrina Bryan of The Cheetah Girls what it's really like to be famous? In this addictive new novel, Sabrina teams up with popular author Julia DeVillers to tell the story of an ordinary girl with an extraordinary secret.... Life in southern California is not at all like Avery expected. She feels invisible at her new high school, her parents are always working, and her only friends are on MySpace. If only her life was like the celebrities she reads about online.... When she's mistaken on MySpace for a rising pop star's assistant, Avery scores an invite to a glamorous Hollywood party and snaps a photo of a young starlet with her secret new beau. Eager to share her juicy scoop, Avery starts a blog, the Princess of Gossip, and the next thing she knows, she's the new gossip girl to watch. Suddenly she's getting the inside scoop on celebrity sightings, and designers are sending her their hottest clothes and accessories in the hopes of scoring a mention on her blog. When Avery shows up at school in her exclusive fashion swag, even Cecilia, the most popular girl in their class, takes notice. Then celebutante playboy Beckett Howard sees Avery wearing one of his father's designs and asks her out. The Princess of Gossip's true identity is still a secret, but when the paparazzi catch Avery and Beckett on a date, Cecilia gets jealous. There's only room for one it girl at school. Snow Crash (Bantam Spectra Book) ReviewI came to _Snow Crash_ on the recommendation of a few people who had read it (they called it "great!" and "hilarious!," and knowing that Neal Stephenson is sometimes listed as a "cyberpunk" writer along with William Gibson et al.
I had liked William Gibson's books, so I gave _Snow Crash_ a try.
_Snow Crash_ is primarily about Hiro, a young man who delivers pizzas and collects information for the Central Intelligence Corporation (freelance), for a living. He lives in a storage unit with a cult-hero rockstar named Vitaly Chernobyl. He owns a futon, two awesome Japanese swords, and a laptop computer, where he stays "jacked in" to the "Metaverse" a lot of the time, where he is the world's greatest swordfighter.
Hiro witnesses a crime while interacting with others in the Metaverse. One of his friends is deliberately exposed to a dangerous block of text, which fries his brain (in the real world), and renders him a vegetable. Hiro and his friend Y.T. (15-year old skateboarding female, and knee-slappingly funny smartaleck) set off to find out why, and save the world in the process.
From the getgo this is a funny book. Sure, the vision of the near-future is dark, a little alarming, and at times depressing (there are NO general laws in _Snow Crash_, for example, and private corporations run everything, even the police, just as an example). That's what cyberpunk is like. But the HUMOR is one thing that sets Neal Stephenson aside. Hiro Protagonist? Come on, that's FUNNY, PEOPLE! One reviewer called it an 'odd' name. Yes, it's odd, and it's absurd, and it's funny! Did this author mean it is an unusual choice for a character name? I don't know. I hope not. It would be an odd choice for a character's name in a Jane Austen novel, sure. But this is cyberpunk, or something like it. Among this genre's leading inspirations are the works of Thomas Pynchon, and "Hiro Protagonist," as a character name, would fit in perfectly among his merry bands of misfits, especially in _V._ or _Gravity's Rainbow_.
Repeatedly reviewers are slamming Stephenson for his use of Sumerian myth, exploration of Sumerian culture, etc. in the book... calling it inaccurate, poorly connected to the rest of the story, and, (my personal least favorite), BORING. I tell you, besides the great sense of humor, the Sumerian-myth link is what sets this novel heads above so much other cyberpunk. I don't care if it's inaccurate (this is FICTION, see?). Stephenson "traces" computer/textual viruses and biological viruses quite nicely back to Sumerian times, and he links them to one another, biological virus to digital/informational virus (a debt to another pre-cyberpunk luminary, William Burroughs, who said "Word is Virus?")-- it's all very well connected to the metaverse/here-and-now portion of _Snow Crash_'s plot.
This is a funny, riproaring tale. I raced through this nearly 500-page paperback in half the time I read most books of this length. I enjoyed it beginning-to-end. My only complaint with the book was that, at times, it too much resembled a Hollywood action movie, what with all sorts of incredible stunts being performed, by boat drivers, skateboarders, swordsmen, etc.
I say, if you like William Gibson or Thomas Pynchon, or if any of this review makes _Snow Crash_ seem a bit appealing to you, give it a chance. I enjoyed it 10 times as much as I thought I would.

Warren Ellis Crecy ReviewCrecy just goes to show you that Warren Ellis is a true master of the comic book/graphic novel medium. Told from a soldier's perspective during the Battle of Crecy, Ellis manages to inject so much information in terms of historical weapon uses and battle techniques that you'll be turning the pages just to see what else you can learn alone. There is an engaging parallel to this generations-ago battle and the current war in Iraq (read Crecy's book description alone to get that), and Ellis' own dark humor is apparent as well. What's even more worth noting about Crecy is the ultra detailed, black and white artwork of Raulo Caceres, whose minor little details in faces and backgrounds are stunning to say the least. If there's any downsides to Crecy, it's that it is very short, and you'll be finished it in no time. Despite that though, there is something about Crecy that leaves a lasting impression, and for Warren Ellis fans, you already know that Crecy is worth picking up.Warren Ellis Crecy OverviewA highly-trained but under-equipped army invades another country due to the perceived threat to home security. The army conducts shock-and-awe raids designed to terrify the populace. This army is soon driven to ground and vastly outnumbered. The English army has to stand and fight in Crecy, France. On August 26, 1346, modern warfare changed forever. This is the story of England's greatest battle, as told by award-winning graphic novelist Warren Ellis.

Jack Kerouac's Avatar Angel: His Last Novel ReviewI am glad that I saved this book for summer night reading. This isn't some Beat nostalgia trip by a Kerouac wannabe. It's much better than that.
Here we have the ghost of Jack Kerouac involuntarily returned to earth. He didn't want to come back, but like life and death, it just happened. Also, like life, he has no idea why he has returned. He just awakened into renewed existance, 13 years after his death, looking physically thirteen years older, with a vague memory of having been somewhere else- maybe Mexico.
Kerouac is drawn back to the people who were linked to him in life. It isn't that he has any unfinished business with them, it is almost like a gravitational attraction. He is drawn to those people, and places where his influence lingers. It just so happens that most of the old friends and acquantances that he meets come across as pretty unsympathetic. Because they live so much in past memories they do not recognise him- or believe him, when he tells them who he is. He is just a crazy old bum. That is, except for Gary Snyder, and possibly Gregory Corso. So Kerouac wanders through 80's America becoming increasingly disillusioned by what his friends, and the country, has become. Yet, all through his travels, a mysterious Indian/ trainman/ biker/ sage keeps reappearing with just the right observations and comments....
Oh yes, the author even puts in a bowling ball-pumping cameo. He comes across as an angel. I guess when you write the book, then you get to be an angel if you want to be....Jack Kerouac's Avatar Angel: His Last Novel OverviewIn his latest novel, Chuck Rosenthal brings Jack Kerouacback from the dead, creating a posthumous novel in the voice of thelegendary beat novelist. On the road again, Kerouac is back todeliver the message of death's existential loneliness, only made worseby what he finds on his return to compare it to.Rosenthal carriesoff the ambitious task, writing great lyrical passages, full of wordplay, neologism, compression, scatting, and riffs. He never forgetsthat Kerouac the free spirit was also Kerouac the writer.

The Avatar Syndrome (Prequel to Headless World) ReviewI will start out by saying that this book was not for the casual reader. It is intense and heavy reading. With that said, I want to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed it. While it had spiritual themes, it is not your mainline Christian book, but it really does make you think. It is thought-provoking and will stimulate and challenge you.The Avatar Syndrome (Prequel to Headless World) OverviewThe Avatar Syndrome follows Anne from childhood, to womanhood; from a troubled, taciturn youth, to a world-renowned violinist; from misunderstood recluse, to messiah of a higher truth and beauty.A product of the expansive cultural landscape of our times, Law, an architect, sculptor and a consummate student of ancient myths, fuses the teachings of Lao Tzu, Jesus, St Thomas Aquinas and Indian mysticism with contemporary issues of family, youth, feminism, fame and power to deliver a singular vision of what it could mean to be human.
Thank you, Stan for so beautiful and brilliant book. Through your book, you were able to awaken in me my true nature.K. Laycraft M.Sc., Center of Chaotic Studies, Alta. Canada
Thanks for your contribution to the literary world. I appreciate how you always include the spiritual element in your novels. R. Witthoeft, Florida USA
This book is . . . for those who love art, philosophy and science. Once again, (Law) touches us by his deep sensitivity for the psychological and spiritual growth of a human being. I. Gorska-Flipot Ph.D. Mtl., Quebec

Mechwarrior: Dark Age #19: Blood Avatar (A BattleTech Novel) ReviewI am disappointed with this novel. Not that it would be poorly-written - on the contrary, it is very enjoyable. But I see it as a copy-paste of a detective novel that would have been adapted in the BT universe. There are a few mentions of the Battletech but no `Mech, and the story is set on a single planet that looks too much like 20th Century America to have the feeling of Science-Fiction.
And you'll have to give up trying to guess the identity of the murderer: you'll never meet the character before the end.Mechwarrior: Dark Age #19: Blood Avatar (A BattleTech Novel) OverviewWhen a body turns up in Farway and the Denebola Bureau of Investigation offers to help identify the murder victim, Sheriff Hank Ketchum knows he's in over his head. Detective Jack Ramsey digs into the case and discovers evidence that puts Farway at the heart of a conspiracy. Original.--This text refers to the Kindle Edition edition.

The Sciences of Avatar ReviewDorion Sagan's latest book is a masterpiece. A refreshing, written with very high integrity, balanced and highly interesting study from various angles of Cameron's breakthrough movie. A highly recommended and these days so rare jewel of a book. The Sciences of Avatar OverviewDoes life exist on Mars or in the Alpha Centauri star system?
